Lucy and Lee encore!

Typical Scottish Skies

Mum and Jess. While out walking and having a recce for a location shoot in the morning, I decide to try out more of the same moody background with flash. It has been raining constantly for two days, hello the long Scottish winter!

I couldn't tell you what this building is!! On my way up to St Andrews attempting some landscape shoots yesterday. I do know that this is in Fife, on the coast, in a very uneventful town called... ? I wasn't keen to find out.

Mhairi

Mhairi.
Sitting pretty before heading out to a ball tonight.

Puddle Double

My partners in crime Eoin and Carole. We dived out of class to practice underexposing background, ambient light with flash. This shot was edited black and white and blended with the colour master for extra darkness.

Hancock Versus Hancock

Some studio practice with the bruv. Take in turn portraits, me shot by Graeme and Graeme shot by me. Simples!

Lucy and Lee

Lucy
Lee
Lucy and Lee in the Pablo Studio in Kidderminster. Whilst working with Pablo Productions in mid October, I squeezed this little studio shoot in. I have way too many to chose from of the set, here are few wee tasters. These guys are both lovely to photograph.

Derlee Lou

A Sunday afternoon shooting in and around Spitalfield Market in Shoreditch. Derlee modeled, Monia styled and manned the flash. We managed to squeeze 5 looks out of one girl thanks to ASOS.com and our styling efforts. The theme was bright colour blocks. The girls did amazing and we had loads of fun!

Misty Morning

On the road to St Andrews last Sunday morning. I am going to take the trip again super early next week to capture more and take my time about it. The mist was amazing.

Brighton

An afternoon spent in Brighton with my boy last Monday. We enjoyed the quiet Pier, fish and chips on the beach, this stunning sun set and finished up with desert at an American diner. I could live down here!
View from Brighton Pier.
The sun breaking through the amusement rides. More on my Flikr...

A day off...

... from posting people pictures on the blog. It is also a day off for me. I decided to go for walk with my camera and one lens, 70-200 mm, to investigate a tiny piece of Penicuik I have not uncovered yet. In fact, I uncovered it so well I got lost a little. Tired, dehydrated and without enough breakfast to fuel the hours I went out for, I got some snaps I am quite happy with, not all bad! Check out my Flikr to the right to see the full photo story...
A single sitting crow against a blue sky.
Penicuik to the Pentlands in one frame.

Light the darkness

'I heart Mon' Lit with a bike light!

This was also lit with a bike light! Photography - Painting with light, what ever it may be.

LFW Montage

It is impossible for me to turn up without taking sly snaps of the details, the visuals that sum up the atmosphere... from my view point anyway. A really cool, relaxed, vibrant scene at Somerset House. I could have mooched there for days. Looking forward to next season.

London Fashion Week

One of the models begins her own walk show.
The audience look on... impressed?
This was Amanda's grand finale. The dress was top to toe (to the floor) a metal wonder.

Side streets of Edinburgh.

First fashion assignment this semester. Carol, Eoin and myself team up to shoot a selection of images from dusk into dark in the city of Edinburgh. The model, Jayne is a complete professional through four hours of outfit, lighting, location and photographer changeover. This image was lit from the right hand side with a single speedlight and diffuser umbrella.

Smoke

After shooting indoors with harsh shadows (see previous post) we head outside to try on more lighting styles. This was more close up with Monia trying a cigarette on after giving up for more than 6 months. She didn't take many more drags as she confirmed she still hated smoking!
I decided to merge this together on a whim from the few photographs in this style.

Monia Vs Speedlights

Monia indoors at No 6. The shadows where created with an un-diffused cranked up speedlight at head height to the right. Another speedlight with diffusing umbrella was placed above her head pointing down. Both lights were less that a meter away from her. I love the deliberate harsh shadows, there is way more to play with using this technique.

Having a play with some branding and adding graphics. The idea was to use the shoot for a sunglasses ad. This is a start but I think the photograph is losing its presence slightly against the advertising. I am looking through tones of ads to find a balance in the product and the advertising. It is so varied!

Stephen Pucci

Here is a wee home studio set up. Two lights with two square diffusers. Stephen Pucci, an actor from London, is happy to pose. There may be more to come...

Frocking Fabulous

On location with a photographer friend, Sam Spurgeon for 'Frocking Fabulous' A new vintage website with an array of cheeky little pieces for the ladies. Sam and I spent the day in South London shooting varied angles and lighting set ups. The models, make up artist and stylist all made this a total success. Check the link and have yourself a wee browse by clicking the title of this blog entry...
